Windsurfing: Ynyslas Estuary Wind Direction: SW Wind Stength: 30 knots Surf / Sea State: flat Air Temperature: 8ºC Sea Temperature: 9ºC Weather: Sunny spells Max Speed: Distance Covered:
What a great session! Headed over to Borth with Jules armed with a forecast
of 30knots and sunny spells.
On the way over it was chucjing it down as we went over the hills but as is
quite often the case a little bit of blue sky was there in the distance
over Borth!
Arriving at Borth the usual stopp off the look over the sea wall and there
was white water everywhere. Guessed Al would be out on the sea front at
some point. But we headed straight for the estauary as it was fast
approaching high tide.
The estaury looked pretty mad, in the distance you could see waves coming
into the cahnnel on the far side.
Just as I started to unload kit off the car, Al rolled up having drawn a
blank finding anyone elese to go out on the front.
We quickly rigged 5.3m for me and 5.0m for Al. My first run out and back
was well overpowered and I came straight in the change down to a 4.5m.
Al sailed out away from the dunes, halfway across the estuary wher the wind
was cleaner. I folowed out and we had a great session blasting flat out
with mad gybe (attempts for me) at the end of each run.
I had some high speed crashes whilst trying to maintain control or during
gybes but I thoroughly enjoyed it all. Excellent.
The first time I've used the 4.5m sail in anger and I survived without
injury or damage.
Just as we were about to pack up 4 sails appeared from the Aber side of the
channel, but we packed in as it was starting to get a bit shallow and I for
one was getting tired. Good day.
